Fighting D in the D!
Diabetes is common, serious, costly – and controllable. It is estimated that 700,000 Michigan adults have been diagnosed with diabetes, and another 365,000 have undiagnosed diabetes. This means more than 1 million adults in Michigan have diabetes.* Type 2 diabetes can lead to heart disease and stroke, high blood pressure, blindness, kidney and nervous system disease, and amputation.
There is something you can do. Get involved with “Fighting D in the D.” Text “HEALTH” to 300400.
“Fighting D in the D” is an innovative public health campaign launching in an effort fight type 2 diabetes in the greater Detroit area. The campaign features txt4health, an all-new mobile health information service designed to help people understand their risk for type 2 diabetes and become more informed about the steps they can take to lead healthy lives. People who sign up for txt4health by texting “HEALTH” to 300400 will receive text messages each week with timely, relevant information to help them improve and manage their health.
Txt4health will also help participants connect with local health and wellness resources, identify prescription assistance programs, and track personalized exercise and weight loss goals.
Brought to you in part by The Southeast Michigan Beacon Community (SEMBC), the American Diabetes Association (ADA), Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), txt4health is and easy and effective way for everyone to become more informed about the steps they can take to lead a more health life. It’s the newest weapon developed for fighting diabetes in Detroit. Together, we can beat diabetes.
